Healing Through Voice and Sound

Facilitated by Katarina Gadjanski

Sunday:
31 August 2025

In this experiential workshop we will explore how we can use sound vibrations and our own voice for emotional and physical healing. We will be exploring this from both a neuroscience perspective and the ancient practices from different spiritual traditions (such as using mantras, chakra sounding, and using different sound frequencies and vibrations for sound healing).  â€‹

We will explore (experientially) how do different sounds and music affect the autonomic nervous system and how they can evoke ventral vagal, sympathetic and dorsal vagal state. We will also explore how they influence the brain waves (beta, alpha, theta, delta and gamma) and how they cause either coherent or incoherent brain wave patterns. We will learn about heart-brain coherence and how to use sounding and meditation to achieve this harmonious healing state.

 â€‹

This workshop will give you an embodied experience of various practices that will help you to start to draw on sound/music/voice as a powerful resource in your own healing process.

Healing Through Voice and Sound workshop is for therapists who have previously done one or more of our Embodied Psychotherapy weekends, workshops or experiential groups and would like to explore working with sound and voice for themselves. This workshop is not a 'teaching' CPD but it can be counted as continuing professional development as it will be beneficial for both personal and professional development.

(CPD certificate of attendance of 7 hours - will be issued on completion).

Please note that no previous experience of the sounding/voicework/singing is necessary - however you won't be able to sign up unless you have done at least one of our workshops beforehand (as this is a 'further development' - advanced workshop).

Some of the practices that you will experience in this workshop:

  • Sounding into different energy centres (chakras) - to balance and harmonise the body

  • The 'heart-brain coherence' meditation - based on the neuroscience (HeartMath Institute) and ancient spiritual practices

  • Using different sound-vibrational frequencies for regulating nervous system (this will help you understand your nervous system and how different sounds and music can help you shift from sympathetic and dorsal-vagal state into a ventral-vagal state). â€‹â€‹â€‹

  • Breath work - for awakening and balancing pineal and pituitary gland

  • Practicing convergent and divergent focus to evoke slower and more coherent  brain waves (alpha and theta) which are prerequisite for any type of healing (body/emotions/mind).

  • Shamanic approaches to healing: using sounding, guided journey and creative visualisation

  • Use of ‘Polyvagal music’ and learning how it could be used to help us move into ventral vagal state when feeling dysregulated

  • Sound-Bath: deep relaxation practice - using breath and sound for healing and resourcing the BodySoul

  • Kirtan singing:  to end the workshop we will sing together some scared chants/songs/mantras from different spiritual traditions (Tibetan, Sanskrit, Aramaic and Hebrew)

"A huge thank you Katarina for your facilitation of the workshop, I absolutely loved it. I felt the group had a great connection, and I felt so safe and welcome. Your new studio and the whole ambience of your space just felt really right, I keep wanting to use the word perfect! I honestly think you have the most soulful, generous and open energy and this came through your work and studio in the most nurturing of ways. Thank you again.”
